DOT Hazardous Materials Transportation

This DOT HazMat Transportation free training course is offered by the All Hazards Training Center (AHTC), in partnership with the Center for Rural Development (CRD), through U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT), Pipeline Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA), Hazardous Materials Instructor Training (HMIT) grant support.
This 8-hr., awareness-level, instructor-led course provides hazmat employees at small or mid-sized companies with critical hazardous materials training information on loading, unloading, or preparing HazMat for transportation. Topics covered will help to reduce the risk of accidents, spills and exposure, while also promoting the safe handling, packaging, labeling, and transportation practices of hazardous materials, per the Hazardous Materials Regulations (HMR). Specifically, this course focuses on the unique transportation requirements for carriage by highway and rail.
This course meets the requirements for Initial and 3-year Refresher DOT HMR training (49 CFR Part 172 Subpart H).

This 1-day, Advanced Professional Series course will allow participants to develop an effective interface between Emergency Operations Center (EOC) by applying Incident Command System (ICS) principles. This course works best when delivered to ICS and EOC personnel from the same community. The course reviews ICS and EOC responsibilities and functions and depends heavily on exercises and group discussions to formulate the interface.

MGT 416 is an 8-hour, DHS/FEMA-certified, tuition-free, planning and management-level course. This course is designed to help governmental officials and emergency responders in rural areas with the development of continuity plans that will help officials ensure essential governmental services remain functional across a spectrum of emergencies. This course will expose participants to the benefits of developing continuity of government plans for rural communities with special focus on succession planning, delegation of authority, redundant communications, and alternate facilities.
Topics include (but not limited to):
• Develop or strengthen current continuity of operations plans
• Address resource needs
• Succession planning
• Plan for alternate communications
• Designate alternate facilities
